SHENETWORK SHEP 15 alented graphic designer, Jude Winnall, turned to sculpturing after being made redundant during the 90' s recession in London. Jude discovered that she had a talent for working with clay after joining a sculpture evening class. Since then she has practiced her art in many classes in London and North Wales. Twenty years later she is happy that her clay sculptures are up to professional standards. And with the current resurgence in figurative sculpture, Jude is hoping that her entry into the art market will be timely. " I'm particularly interested in people's faces." she said. " I suppose it's a bit like being in love. I see a wonderful person without any faults and I become totally engrossed in the creative process." She certainly captures the subject's likeness. Enhancing the form by the handling of the clay with its uniform colour evening out skin tones resulting in a very pleasing result. So, Jude says that someone who is not stereotypically pretty or handsome would be delighted to see themselves immortalised in one of her pieces. Apart from offering a portrait service Jude has also created a stunning set of contemporary wall mounted porcelain babies' heads which convey her anti racist sympathies.
