Improved energy efficiency has very positive effects on the environment in terms of reduced greenhouse gas emissions, whilst also providing consumers with lower energy bills. The range of insulants incorporated within Bauder systems helps to meet this objective. It is estimated that over a 50 year period, these products will save at least 1000 times more energy than embodied in their manufacture. BRE Green Guide The Building Research Establishment ( BRE) Green Guide assesses building materials in terms of their environmental impact across their entire life cycle. Information within this guide is used for BREEAM ( BRE Environmental Assessment Method) Calculations; an accredited environmental rating scheme for buildings. ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS The BRE gives pentane blown PUR with a density of 32Kg/ m ² an ' A' rating in their Green Guide in a ranking between A+ and E, where A+ represents the best environmental performance with least environmental impact and E represents the worst environmental performance with the worst environmental impact. The only insulation suitable for flat roof applications that rates more highly is Expanded Polystyrene, but this is seldom used due to its poor fire performance. Disposal There are two options available for PUR and PIR at the end of its useful life. The first is to send it to landfill where tests have shown that the products are highly unlikely to present any problems to leachate. The second, which is the best solution currently available, is energy recovery through incineration. 94 bauder. ie |
