Liquid Applied Balcony, Walkway and Terrace Systems The Bauder Triflex balcony, walkway and terrace systems were developed to provide the optimum combination of aesthetic and functional requirements The systems are designed to be slip resistant and hard wearing, and can also be used for stairs and stairwells. These cold liquid applied systems are based on the most advanced German polymer chemistry and are suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects, as either cold roof or inverted roof design. KEY FEATURES n Suitable for New Build and Refurbishment n Totally Cold Applied n Exceptionally rapid cure times n Seamless with no fixings n Thick layer system n Flexible n Anti- skid n Fully bonded with excellent inter- layer adhesion n Fire resistant n Chemical resistant n Tough and durable enough to withstand all types of balcony traffic n Can be installed all year round in the majority of climatic conditions n Compatible with almost all substrates n Free of solvents, isocyanates and halogens n Quick and simple to install n Can be overlaid or repaired as required at any time in the future GENERAL BENEFITS n Considerable health and safety benefits during application, as there is no requirement for hot works of any kind. n Cost savings compared to traditional systems due to a saving in labour cost through speed and simplicity of application. n Although thicker and therefore more robust and hard wearing than other cold liquid applied systems, it is much thinner than asphalt, which means threshold heights can be kept to a minimum. NEW BUILD The system is suitable to be applied over almost all substrates, including concrete asphalt and timber decks, which are the most commonly used materials for balconies, walkways and terraces. Because the material is cold applied from the drum using very basic equipment this avoids hoisting heavy plant associated with asphalt or hot melt systems to roof level. Cold application avoids the risks associated with hot works on site. REFURBISHMENT The system can be applied directly to asphalt and most other waterproofing and surfacing products typically found on existing balconies, walkways and terraces. This avoids the unnecessary expense, risk and disruption of removing existing waterproofing and minimises installation time on site. Cold application and exceptionally fast cure times are a distinct advantage when carrying out work on areas continuously in use by the buildings occupants; inconvenience is kept to a minimum. 85 bauder. co. uk Technical Guide Pages 89 - 91 CAD SPECIFICATION SUPPORT CAD DRAWINGS www. bauder. co. uk/ technical- centre NBS SPECIFICATIONS www. bauder. co. uk/ technical- centre TECHNICAL HELPLINE T: + 44 ( 0) 1473 257671 E: technical@ bauder. co. uk PROJECTS PORTFOLIO E: marketing@ bauder. co. uk W: www. bauder. co. uk/ media- centre COLD APPLIED SYSTEMS

86 bauder. ie SYSTEM DETAIL The Bauder Triflex balcony, walkway and terrace systems are totally cold applied, so avoiding the hazards often associated with hot works. During installation, access restrictions are minimised as the systems achieve full mechanical properties exceptionally quickly and all layers of the systems can be trafficked within a few hours after installation. The waterproofing and surfacing layers are designed to be tough and durable to withstand the specific demands of the balcony, walkway and terrace environment. They are designed for high levels of traffic, with a REINFORCED SYSTEM The Bauder Triflex cold liquid applied, fully reinforced balcony, walkway and terrace surfacing system is used wherever there are occupied premises beneath. It is especially suitable for the overlay of failed or worn asphalt, helping to avoid the costs, disruption and risks associated with its removal. Triflex Cryl Finish 205 is an abrasion resistant system seal coat. Triflex RS233 Deck Floor Layer is a self levelling surface layer with large grain, hard wearing crystal quartz aggregate. Triflex ProTerra is a ETA certified Reinforced Waterproofing Layer, fully reinforced with a tough polyester fabric. Triflex Primer used to seal the substrate and to improve adhesion. Substrate Base – ( eg. asphalt, concrete, timber). heavy duty crystal quartz filled wearing course. The aggregate is tightly bound within the resin matrix and provides both the wearing layer anti skid properties and long term resistance to impacts and damage. Unlike more commonly available coatings, the PMMA resins used achieve excellent substrate and inter layer adhesion, do not suffer inter layer delamination and have excellent resistance to the day to day forces imposed on balcony, walkway and terrace systems. UNREINFORCED SYSTEM The Bauder Triflex cold applied unreinforced system is used over unoccupied premises, such as cantilevered structures. Reinforcement is still used to upstands and to cope with any details, as structural movement may occur. Triflex Cryl Finish 205 is an abrasion resistant system seal coat. Triflex RS233 Deck Floor Layer is a self levelling surface layer with large grain, hard wearing crystal quartz aggregate. Triflex Primer used to seal the substrate and to improve adhesion. Substrate Base – ( eg. asphalt, concrete, timber). ALTERNATIVE SURFACING / INSULATION Paving or timber decking can be used over the Triflex ProTerra ® reinforced waterproofing layer if preferable, with the addition of a slip layer and protection layer to prevent the possibility of mechanical damage. Paving, on supports or screed, or timber decking. Bauder U- Max Vapour Permeable Membrane, designed to increase the thermal capacity of the insulation whilst preventing fines from working their way beneath. Bauder XPS Where it is necessary to provide an insulated solution. Bauder Filter Fleece Triflex ProTerra, is an ETA certified Reinforced Waterproofing layer, fully reinforced with a tough polyester fabric.
